Of the seven essentials … the Air we breathe, is something we take for granted. There are many things we can do to improve not only the air we breathe, but also HOW we breathe. Of the seven essentials breathing is the only one that we can’t put off for more than a few minutes without major repercussions.

It’s not a learned skill. For the most part, your subconscious mind takes care of your breathing while you tend to more pressing matters. Yet, despite it’s being automatic, you can consciously control … WHEN you breathe, HOW you breathe, and WHAT you breathe … to a point. Under normal circumstances, if you stop for more than 10 to 15 seconds, you must concentrate on what you’re doing.

Since the body will always do what it can to keep you alive at the moment, and you must breathe in order to accomplish that, you will breathe or, pass out. When you’re unconscious, your conscious mind is out of the way to allow the subconscious to take control of the internal vital functions, and restore the breathing process.

The primary purpose of breathing is to get the necessary oxygen to the cells for doing their job. The cell takes oxygen in, and as it uses it, produces carbon dioxide. If the cell is full of that waste, there isn’t enough room for the new oxygen. So … the carbon dioxide must be eliminated.

The main purpose of breathing is not only to bring oxygen into the body, but also to get rid of the waste/carbon dioxide. Blood cells carry the most oxygen when your internal environment is slightly alkaline. So it’s important that the carbon dioxide be disposed of as quickly as possible.

The CHOICES that can slow down this important process are:

#1. to breathe in smoke or not to? Smoking dumps potentially lethal toxins into the body, which go directly into the blood stream with out being processed through the physiological protective mechanisms. Unlike food, which is neutralized by the stomach acid or detoxified by the liver, no denaturing process tempers the direct toxic hit on the body.

#2. Choosing the TYPE of air we breathe is a big one. Where do you spend the most time? Where we WORK and LIVE, of course. If you choose to work or live in a chemically intense environment, such as printing or spray painting, and to live in a highly polluted area, it's a conscious CHOICE. Your decisions are a matter of priority.

NOTE: Respiratory toxicity imposes severe stress on the body. That stress can exacerbate, weaken, and exhaust vulnerable organs and systems which are trying to cope with other stresses. This additional stress of being immersed in environmental toxic waste can tip the scales and create an environment where disease can easily exist.

    SOLUTIONS: We can …

  • Use air purifiers wherever you spend the most hours of the day.
  • Learn how to breathe. The deep conscious breathing that is learned and required doing yoga or meditation is one of the easiest ways if you’re breathing that clean air. Go to a class, get meditation tapes and become more conscious of how you breathe at all times. STOP … during your busy day take several inner conscious, deep energizing breaths that fill your whole body. Then release it slowly along with all the stress in your body at the time. FEEL the STRESS leaving each body part. Think LOVE with every life-giving breath!

#3. We live in a sea of chaotic energy, that’s our aquarium of sort. Most of us live in an unnatural environment filled with unfriendly energies such as electronic equipment and negative people. There are support products that absorb these unseen, but always felt energies. These functions keep you more peaceful and focused by absorbing and balancing the energy around you.

BALANCE … your choices in the seven essential areas and give your body the best internal environment possible for it to do what it does best … keep you alive. An occasional toxic moment is not going to kill us. When we habitually make choices that allow the body to be in the best situations possible, it can handle the occasional “incorrect choice” fling.

Happy Mindful Breathing to you.
